An Italian company and an individual businessman have been found guilty of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking by a single-member panel of the World Intellectual Property Organization for using the UDRP process to force a transfer of the domains ticketsms.com and ticketsms.net, both of which were registered by their current owner in 2009. The company, TicketSms S.R.L., and the businessman, Andrea Vitali, has sought to take the domains from their owner, who operates an online ticket sales company in the United Kingdom.
The panelist, Assen Alexiev, noted that neither the company nor the individual businessman were doing business under the Ticket SMS banner prior to 2015, and that neither held any trademarks for the mark, itself, until 2020. Alexiev handed up his ruling of RDNH against TicketSms and Mr. Vitali on April 12, 2023.
