Sleep Number Firmly Smacked By Reverse Domain Hijacking Ruling

Case Number: NAF 2062168

Complainant: Sleep Number Corporation

Represented by: Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP

Sleep Number Corporation, which famously sells a line of adjustable beds, has been ruled a Reverse Domain Name Hijacker by a panel of the National Arbitration Forum, after the company attempted to use the UDRP process to force the transfer of the highly-generic domain, beds.com.

The three panelists, Eugene I. Low, Jeffrey J. Neuman and Douglas M. Isenberg, handed up their ruling of RDNH against Sleep Number, of their own volition, on November 2, 2023. The panel wrote that Sleep Number engaged in “a speculative case”, in which Sleep Number accused the owner of beds.com of “theft of the disputed domain name,” without providing a scintilla of evidence to support the claim.
