Nightclub Learns A Little Monkey Business Gets You An RDNH

Case Number: NAF 2132877

Complainant: Monkey Loft Lounge LLC

Represented by: Steven L. Rinehart

A single-member panel of  the National Arbitration Forum has found the Seattle-based nightclub, Monkey Loft Lounge, guilty of reverse domain name hijacking for attempting to use the UDRP process to force the transfer of the domain monkeyloft.com. The nightclub had tried to invoke a common-law trademark on the name Monkey Loft, which it claimed to have used since 2013.

The owner of the domain did not respond; however, it is currently registered at Tucows, and has been registered since 2010.

Panelist Steven M. Levy handed up his RDNH ruling against Monkey Loft Lounge on January 27, 2025.
