Business Feud Ultimately Leads To Reverse Domain Name Hijacking, WIPO Finds

A three-member panel at the World Intellectual Property Organization has found a Canada-based builder of armored vehicles guilty of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking, in what panel members observed was an ongoing business dispute between former partners. 1141931 Ontario Inc., which does business as the INKAS Group of Companies, had sought the transfer of inkasarmor.com and inkas-group.com, which are currently held by a former partner. That partner, Ulugbekhon Maksumov, currently resides in the United Arab Emirates, and operates another company that owns a pair of trademarks for the mark “INKAS”.

The panel, comprised of membersĀ  W. Scott Blackmer, Jon Lang, and Gerald M. Levine, handed up a ruling against the 1141931 Ontario Inc., d/b/a/ INKAS Group, on September 11, 2024.
