The law firm of Watson Farley & Williams (Middle East) LLP, based in United Arab Emirates, represented the European subsidiary of a Saudi petrochemical company, Sipchem Europe S.A., in its effort to use the UDRP process to steal the domain sichem.com, owned by vanBaerle Management AG, which recently changed its name to Sichem AG.
The sole panelist reviewing the case, Tobias Zuberbühler, at the World Intellectual Property Organization, handed up a ruling of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking against Sipchem Europe on September 10, 2024.
